POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN CHILD RIGHTS LAW(PGDCRL)-Distance  Learning

NLSIU,  invites applications for one year Post Graduate Diploma in Child Rights Law (PGDCRL) - Distance Mode. The PGDCRL draws from the rich insights gained by Centre for Child and the Law (CCL), a specialized Research Centre at the NLSIU, engaged in research, training, teaching, practice and policy advocacy on various issues related to children since 1996. Eligibility for Admission: Graduate Degree from any recognized University OR similar qualification (15 years of education). The medium of instruction will be English.

Admission Procedure: Candidates intending to enroll for admission shall submit the duly filled in application form along with the attested copies of the Provisional / Degree certificates and the fee before the prescribed last date. Soon after completion of the admission process the confirmation of admission will be sent to the candidates.

Duration: One Academic Year. (Maximum duration to complete the course is three years).

Self Instructional Material (SIMs)           - Written modules as per the syllabus for 4 papers        
Reading Material Compendiums             - Compiled articles as per the syllabus for 4 papers
CD                                                        - soft copies of the articles, reports, legislations and other  useful resources

 

PRESCRIBED PAPERS

Paper 1:Introduction to Law & Legal Systems
Paper 2: Child Rights, Policy and Law: International and National
Framework

Paper 3:Legislation relating to Children in India
Paper 4:Working with Children from a Rights Based perspective
Paper 5: Dissertation

For Papers I, II, III, and IV written examinations will carry 100 marks each and for Paper V Written Research Project and viva-voce will carry 70 and 30 marks respectively.

CONTACT CLASSES: The three contact classes (of three days each) as well as the Final exams will take place at NLSIU, Bangalore. The contact classes are NOT COMPULSORY. The medium of instruction is English. Total fee at the time of admission is Rs.11,100/- (inclusive of Application fee of Rs.1,000/-). Information about the schedule of contact classes, examinations and other useful information is also sent by email. Requirements for fulfillment of the Course

Every candidate has to appear for examination in four papers. Each paper carries equal marks

requirementCandidates are supposed to secure at least 50% marks in each paper.

requirementEvery candidate shall work on a Research Project (which will be considered as Paper V) and submit the project report before he/she appears for the written examination.

requirementCandidates are permitted to continue the course beyond the first academic year.

EXAMINATION SCHEME
Candidates are expected to write 100 marks in class examination for each paper. Annual exams will be held in June. Grading system is followed for evaluation of performance. Minimum B Grade (50%) is required to pass a paper. A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 is necessary to complete the course.

Dissertation/Project which is considered as Paper V, would carry 70 marks. Students are also expected to take an oral viva voce, which will be based on the Dissertation they write. The viva voce will carry 30 marks. Submission of Dissertation is one month before the examination every year. Submission of Dissertation is a pre requisite to be eligible for writing the final examination.

Examination Fee Rs. 300/- per paper (All papers including Project- 1500/-)

Late payment of Examination Fee Rs. 250/-

Late submission of Dissertation Rs. 200/-

Continuation fee Rs. 1,000/-

Revaluation of exam papers fee (for all courses) Rs.700/- per paper
