National Law School of India Reveiw

The National Law School of India Review (NLSIR) is the flagship legal journal of the SBA. The task of compiling, editing and circulating the journal is entrusted to the Student Advocate Committee (�Stud Ad'). The journal has been in print since the inception of the Law School in 1988 and was, till 2001, known as The Student Advocate . The NLSIR carries Articles, Notes and Comments, Book Reviews, Essays and Case-Studies on various legal themes.

After having been an annual publication for several years, the journal has become a bi-annual feature from 2005-06. Past contributors to the NLSIR have included Supreme Court and High Court judges, Senior Advocates, leading academics as well as students. In the past the Committee has also published theme-based journals on areas such as �Law and Society' scholarship and intellectual property.

Indian Journal of Law and Technology

The Indian Journal of Law and Technology (IJLT) was launched in the 2004-05 academic session to provide a platform for discussion and exploration of domestic and international legal issues pertaining to the intersection between law and technology. The journal is managed and published by the Law and Technology Committee (El-Tek) which selects an independent editorial board of students to liaise with an Article Review Board of industry and legal experts. Socio-Legal Review

The Law and Society Committee (Law Soc) publishes the Socio-Legal Review , which is an annual feature devoted to exploring the relationship between law and society in its various facets. Submissions are solicited from a diverse range of authors- from academics and activists to legal luminaries and students from various disciplines.

A rigorous editorial process ensures that quality submissions are published in the journal, including but not limited to field-reports, narratives, comparative perspectives, personalised accounts and full-length articles. Special regard is given towards developing a socio-legal jurisprudence from a critical Third World standpoint.

An editorial board of students is selected by the Law and Society Committee, which works with a �peer-review' board consisting of several eminent scholars and practitioners. Quirk

Quirk is a quarterly-literary magazine that publishes writings across all genres and has been styled as � Law School 's Informal Lit Mag'. The first issue went to print in January 2005 with the aim of providing a forum for literary expression, at the student-level. From full-blown feature articles to reviews to visual art to poetry to undefined literary outpourings- Quirk provides for refreshing reading with a hue of the authentic University spirit, while at the same time carving out a truly collaborative forum of expression for writers and artists. Absolutely anyone and everyone can contribute to the magazine.

LeGala

LeGala is Law School 's annual inter-collegiate lit n' cul fest, which was started in 1996. It attracts participation from colleges all over Bangalore as well as out-station teams for events like quizzing, music, theatre and dance. NLS students don a purely organizational role by way of raising sponsorships, creating publicity and organizing dozens of competitive as well as informal activities as part of the festival. In order to maintain impartiality, the host institution does not participate in the competitive activities. The festival is organised by the Event Management Committee (EMC) with the Cultural and Fine Arts Committee (�Cul Comm') and the Literary and Debating Society (�LnD') organizing the cultural and literary sections respectively.

Admit One, Theatre Fest

Admit One, launched in 2006 by the Cultural and Fine Arts Committee (Cul Comm) developed into a national level theatre fest from its inception. The inaugural edition saw participation from ___ of colleges from across the country. In its second edition this year, Admit One promises to be bigger than the last.

Strawberry Fields

Strawberry Fields is India 's largest student-organised rock show and is held concurrently with LeGala. The last few editions had more than 40 participating bands from all over South Asia and crowds in excess of 10,000. Its past 10 editions have served as launch-pads for prominent Indian bands like Moksha, Thermal and a Quarter, Motherjane, Zero and Medicis among others. The music festival started its existence under the name of �Lawcommotion' in 1996 and subsequently took on its present name. It was held in the NLSIU campus till 2002 but had to be held at the Palace Grounds in 2003, 2004 and 2005 on account of infrastructural constraints. Strawberry Fields will return home to campus for the 2006 edition, much to the delight of all those who have ever been associated with this venture.

The NLS Debate

The NLS Debate, launched in 2002 by the Literary and Debating Society (�LnD'), has in the matter of a few years emerged as the sub-continent's largest Parliamentary-style debating championship. It follows a rigorous format modeled on international competitions such as the All-Asian championships. The past four editions have attracted participation not only from the best Indian universities but have also drawn teams from Pakistan and Sri Lanka . We take pride in the fact that many teams who participate in the NLS Debate go on to represent their countries at international competitions.

Spiritus

Spiritus is an annual sports festival that draws participation from law colleges all over India . Hosted by the Sports Committee of the SBA in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Spiritus sees fierce competition in disciplines such as football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton and tennis among others. The festival re-invented itself with the 2005 edition by offering attractive prize money thus drawing more participation than ever before.

Consilience

Consilience is an annual conference on law and technology issues, organised by the Law and Technology Committee of the SBA. The primary endeavour of the conference is to address the needs and concerns of industry stakeholders, focusing on the practical rather than a theoretical analysis of issues. Previous editions of the conference have explored themes such as �Free and Open Source Software', �Legal Aspects of Outsourcing' and �Biotechnology and the Law'.
