Profile

Chitra is a lawyer, mediator and arbitrator. She lives in Chennai, India. She is an accredited mediator with TNMCC (Madras High Court) & founding partner of Foundation for Comprehensive Dispute Resolution, Chennai.

She practised corporate commercial law with leading law firms before setting up independent practice. Since 2005, she has mediated a variety of disputes including family, workplace & commercial disputes. She was part of a group of mediators appointed by the Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee (Supreme Court of India) in 2020 to draft a legislation on mediation.

She is a Visiting Faculty with Sai University, Chennai, NLSIU, Bengaluru, & MNLU, Mumbai. She also teaches mediation at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs. She is the author of Mediation Policy & Practice (Oakbridge Publishing Ltd., 2021).

She is Joint Editor, Pollock and Mulla, The Indian Contract and Specific Relief Acts, 17th Edition, Specialist Editor, C.R.Datta, Company Law, 7th Edition and Specialist Editor, A. Ramaiya, Guide to the Companies Act, 18th Edition. Chitra is the recipient of the first Sriram Panchu National ImPACT Award in Mediation Research & Literature in 2023.
