Profile

Shrawani Shagun is a research scholar and legal expert specialising in space law, focussing on environmental sustainability, climate action, and the regulation of space activities. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in Space Law at the National Law University, Delhi. She is a recipient of the Max Planck Scholarship and spent a semester as a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg. She is the National Point of Contact for India at the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) since April 2024 and a prospective member of the International Institute of Space Law, actively engaged in shaping the future of space governance.

As a prolific presenter, she has shared insights on various international platforms. She presented her work on ‘Nurturing Sustainable Space Governance for Future Generations: Integrating Climate Science into Space Policies’ at the UN/Austria Symposium 2024 in Graz, Austria. She chaired a panel at the first international UNITAR Research Conference at the UN Campus in Bonn, Germany, where she discussed the role of space technology in climate security.

Beyond her scholarly pursuits, she has played an instrumental role in various academic and professional settings. She has served as visiting faculty and course instructor at law schools, teaching courses on international law, environmental governance, and space law. She is involved with the Association for International Legal Research on Space Sustainability, where she has been a member of the legal research team since January 2024.
