This core course on law, poverty and development will focus on the political economy of development and its legal contours both internationally and within India. It will be anchored in the vision of the Indian constitution which aspires to :

• secure justice – social, economic and political
• ensure equality of status and opportunity
• foster liberty of thought and expression
• promote fraternity among all citizens; and assure the dignity of every individual
