Profile

Rear Admiral Sudhir Pillai, NM (Retd), brings over 37 years of commissioned service in the Indian Navy and experience with inter-service educational and multi-national institutions to his teaching at NLSIU. A former naval aviator and helicopter pilot-instructor, he has held senior appointments, including as Flag Officer Naval Aviation, Chief of Staff at the Andaman & Nicobar Command, and Chief Instructor (Navy) at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. A recipient of the Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry), he has commanded multiple frontline ships and aviation units and participated in multinational staff interactions and operations across the Indian Ocean Region. He holds an MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies from the National Defence College / University of Madras, and is a Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, Hawaii.

Military Strategic and Op Level Studies with a core focus on Military Op Law, Defence Acquisition Reform & Joint Military Theory & Practice
