Profile

Vishakha has over five years of experience in the area of international trade law and policy. She recently joined the School of Law, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) – as an Assistant Professor of Law. Before joining RUAS in June 2026, she worked at the Centre for WTO Studies (CWS), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), Government of India) – as a Senior Research Fellow (Legal). At CWS, she assisted the Department of Commerce, MoCI, in multilateral and bilateral trade negotiations, with a particular focus on trade and sustainability issues, including environment and labour, and technical barriers to trade. She also participated in India’s free trade agreement negotiations with several partner countries as a sector expert on these issues. Prior to CWS, she briefly worked as an Academic Fellow at O.P. Jindal Global University.

She is currently pursuing a PhD at the Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University. Her doctoral research explores the interaction between international trade and environmental law regimes in the context of unilateral trade measures for climate action.

In addition to her professional work, she has presented her research at leading international conferences and has served as a panelist and discussant at various academic and policy forums. She has also delivered capacity-building programmes for government officials on international trade and sustainability issues.
