Course Description:
This is a core course that introduces students to the foundational principles, theories, and practices in the field of public policy. Through a combination of theoretical perspectives, case discussions, and practical examples, students will develop an understanding of the following: 1) what is public policy and what are the different perspectives in thinking about it? 2) How public policies are formulated, implemented, and evaluated? 3) What is the role of public administration in policymaking?The course will also focus on the role of institutions, stakeholders, and the political and economic environments in shaping policy outcomes. The course will be covered in 4 modules with the first three modules focusing on policy related literature, and the last module on public administration theories.
