Course Description

Labour law is often taught through statutes, judicial decisions, and legal principles. While this doctrinal foundation is essential, understanding labour law requires more than knowledge of legal provisions and precedents. Lawyers must be able to apply legal rules to real disputes, work with incomplete facts, develop litigation strategies, and translate legal rights into effective remedies.

This Labour Law Litigation Clinic is designed to bridge the gap between doctrinal learning and legal practice. Through a series of live labour disputes, students will engage with the practical aspects of labour lawyering, including fact investigation, evidence assessment, legal research, forum selection, drafting legal notices, preparing complaints before labour authorities, and drafting writ petitions and Special Leave Petitions.
