Course Description
This advanced elective course builds upon the Major Core Course on Global Politics offered as part of the Politics Track of the BA (Hons.) and BA LLB (Hons) programme by exploring a fundamental question: what is the role of theory in making the world intelligible? Tapping into the rich vein of scholarship from within and beyond disciplinary International Relations (IR), the course seeks to explore – both creatively and imaginatively, the ways in which IR is performed and enacted in various popular media viz. films, music, art, paintings, museums and sports. It looks at aesthetic expressions as context to and expressions of world politics. The course builds on eclectic academic literature drawn from upon debates located in disciplines such as sociology and history. Much of the literature assigned as required readings are published research in the form of journal articles, book chapters, and extracts from monographs.
