COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course compares contemporary politics within and across countries through a critical engagement with research, data, and discourse. In contrast to international politics, the focus is domestic. In contrast to political theory, the focus is evidence-led and on the present. Some of our substantive questions will be: How are regimes such as democracies and dictatorships formed? When does identity become political? What role do parties play in a democracy?
