Profile

Surbhi (she/they) is a historian specialising in modern and contemporary South Asian popular cultures and their interaction with feminist thought. Their doctoral work engages with popular magazines as a historical site for mapping everyday discourses of gender, both in national and transnational contexts. Surbhi has previously taught at Miranda House and Krea University. While not working on her academic obligations, Surbhi likes to watch anime, play with stray cats and experiment with cooking.
