Profile

Uttara Gharpure, NLS ‘LLB 2009, is senior director and leads strategy at Supr Daily – a grocery delivery start-up based in Bengaluru. She is a former Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company – where she worked with leaders in the technology, healthcare, and development sectors. She holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics and International Development from the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Passionate about public and social sector work globally, she has previously worked in urban development, education, and health financing with the Fitchburg City Government (USA), Instiglio (Colombia), the Public Health Foundation (India) and Clinton Health Access Initiative (Malawi).

She is also the co-founder of ‘Reason to Debate’, which aims to make world-class parliamentary debate training accessible to high-school and university students in India. Reason to Debate has also been the Debate Training Partner at the National Law School Debate in 2018 and 2019. Over the past 12 years, this platform has trained over 1000 students in debating and critical thinking skills at some of India’s most prestigious educational institutions, including the Shri Ram College of Commerce and Miranda House in Delhi University, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and National Law University, Jodhpur, as well as St Paul’s School and St Joseph’s School North Point in Darjeeling, and Welham Girls’ School, Dehradun.
