Profile

Vikas is a social epidemiologist with over 15 years of experience in public health research, health systems strengthening, monitoring and evaluation, and implementation research across India and other low- and middle-income countries. He has worked with governments, multilateral and bilateral agencies, philanthropic organisations, and academic institutions on large-scale evaluations, implementation research, and evidence-informed programme design, spanning primary health care, maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, adolescent health, and child protection.

He has held senior leadership roles at Sambodhi Research & Communications and the International Planned Parenthood Federation, and currently works as an independent consultant, including advising the Asian Development Bank on urban primary health care and the development of an Urban Health Index for Indian cities.

He brings extensive teaching experience to the classroom, including at Lund University and the National Law School of India University, where he teaches Organisational Studies and Project Management in the Master of Public Policy programme. He holds an MBBS, an MPH from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and a PhD in Public Health from Lund University in Sweden
