The Chair on Consumer Law and Practice, National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, is pleased to announce its 1st Online Moot Court Competition on Consumer Law and Practice. The competition invites law students from across the country to engage with contemporary issues in consumer protection law through rigorous written and oral advocacy and provides a platform to sharpen research, drafting, and argumentation skills in a competitive, professional setting.

About the Competition

The competition seeks to engage law students from across the country with contemporary issues in consumer protection law through written and oral advocacy. The competition will be conducted entirely online.

The Winning Team and Runner-Up will receive cash prizes of ₹20,000 and ₹15,000 respectively, along with Certificates of Excellence. The results and prize distribution are scheduled for 24 December 2026 in New Delhi, as part of the National Consumer Rights Day event organised by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India.

Team Size: 2 (two) members per team
Registration Fee: ₹ 2,000 per team
Mode of Competition: Online only

Deadline for Memorial Submission: 31st October 2026

Late Submission Window (with penalty): 1st – 3rd November 2026
(1.5 marks deducted per team, per side, for each day of delay)

Octa-Finals & Semi-Finals (Oral Rounds): 14th – 15th November 2026

Finals (Oral Round): 21st November 2026

Declaration of Results & Prize Distribution: 24th December 2026

Eligibility

• Open to students currently enrolled in a B.A. LL.B. or LL.B. programme.
• Both team members must belong to the same college/university.
• Only one team per college/university is permitted.
