The NLSIU Crèche
June 20, 2026
In March 2022, the University opened an in-house crèche equipped with an indoor play area, child-friendly furniture, and an outdoor play area to benefit both staff and faculty on campus. Since 2025-26, daily crèche usage has grown to an average of eight children per day. Hence, with the University redevelopment and expansion in progress, the crèche has been relocated to Flat No. 1, Faculty Quarters (Block III) from July 2026.
The crèche facility is available to all full-time faculty and staff at no charge. The crèche caters to children in the age group of 6 months to 6 years. The facility is open from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday and will remain closed on weekends and University-declared holidays.
For other users wishing to avail the crèche facility, a nominal fee of INR 1,000 per month will be payable at the University’s Finance Department.
Crèche Management and Operations
To ensure professional and high-quality care, the University partnered with a professional service provider to manage daily operations. It offers an infant programme, a toddler programme, a pre-school programme, and an after-school programme for children.
Staffing and Care
The Teacher-in-Charge oversees the centre, conducts learning activities and monitors overall childcare. The Nanny is responsible for care-related needs such as feeding, diapering, and rest/sleep routines.
