Mohammed Afeef graduated from the Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. In 2017, he joined the Alternative Law Forum as a litigating lawyer. His areas of practice included constitutional law, family law, service and labour law, and other areas of civil law. During his time at the Alternative Law Forum, he appeared before trial courts and the Karnataka High Court on behalf of marginalised communities, including street vendors, slum residents, sex workers, refugees, and religious minorities.

He completed his LL.M. from SOAS University of London (2023–2024), supported by the Antony Dicks Scholarship. Subsequently, he practised at the Supreme Court of India, where he worked on a range of constitutional and citizenship-related cases.

He is also a member of the All India Lawyers’ Association for Justice (a pan-India organisation of lawyers and law students committed to upholding constitutional and democratic values). His areas of academic interest include citizenship and immigration law, constitutional law, and law and religion.
