Soumya is a communications professional with over 5 years of experience in journalism, strategic communications, advocacy, stakeholder-engagement, knowledge management, and migration studies. Over the last 5 years, she has worked as a Communications Consultant with an Inter-Governmental Organization based in Geneva (South Centre) and two United Nations’ entities (UN Women and the World Intellectual Property Organization). She has worked on core global issues such as Gender, Education, South-South Cooperation, Intellectual Property, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), among others. She is also a trained broadcast journalist, having started her career with television journalism.

She holds an M.A. International Relations (Research) from the School of Social Sciences (SoSS), University of Manchester; an M.A. in Media Governance from the Centre for Culture, Media and Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi; a PG Diploma in Journalism from the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai; and a Bachelors’ degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad.
