Profile
Ragini Ahuja is Co-Director, Criminal Justice Clinic at NLSIU where she focusses on the clinic’s legal aid practice, clinical teaching and research engagements.
Prior to this, Ragini litigated for over a decade in various High Courts as well as the Supreme Court of India. Her area of litigation includes criminal defence including for people on death row, civil liberties, custodial violence and other issues related to conditions of confinement. During her previous tenure at NLSIU, she successfully argued a case for commutation of death sentence before the High Court of Karnataka. Besides litigation, Ragini was a part of the Law Commission of India’s endeavour to review capital punishment which culminated in a report in August 2015 (Law Commission of India, 262nd report).
She is an alumnus of University of Delhi and Columbia University where she was a LLM Human Rights Fellow.
