Course Description:
Orientation to Professional Life (OPL) is a core course that has been introduced this academic year for all first year students in the BA LLB Hons and BA programme. The course will address practical aspects of the transition from student life to a demanding professional programme. The course aims to cover a range of topics that will help students with practical aspects of their law/arts education such as how to manage your time, how to communicate within a professional setting, how to manage expectations that are demanded of you; how to make best use of the resources available you at NLSIU, and how to negotiate student life in a rigorous academic setting. OPL is designed to be an interactive course that will give students a chance to ask questions that are not necessarily subject oriented but related to the broader institutional culture at NLSIU, and to skills that they need to develop over the course of their degree. The course will provide a foundation that students can build on in their interaction with faculty and peers and the NLSIU community over the course of their degree.
