This is a compulsory core course required by the UGC guidelines for the one-year LL.M programme in India.  This course is motivated by the need for every postgraduate law student to be exposed to the comparative method, with a specific application to the fields of public law and government. In this course, we emphasize issues of Constitutional rights and adjudication in a comparative frame.

This core course presumes a basic understanding of issues in constitutional law. In this course, students will debate and discuss core constitutional issues in a comparative setting. We will focus on issues of comparative constitutional law and adjudication, particularly among nations of the Global South. Most undergraduate law courses in India have no exposure to comparative law and this course will serve as an introduction and foundation for such students.
