This is a core economics course that familiarizes students with foundational economic theories and models in microeconomics and macroeconomics that are applied for a vast range of economic analysis. These analytical frameworks are used widely in policy designs. The optimization framework of microeconomics is widely used in designing policies and analyzing individual-level policy responses. Policy decisions on taxation, budgetary allocations and fiscal management, monetary policies and the implications of these policies for the real economy can be understood through macro-economic theories.
