The course highlights key features of the socio-political context within which public policy processes operate in modern India. We focus on the state as an institution as well as on its practices to understand its complexities from the perspective of both ideas and action. Following from there, the course dwells on themes such as modernity, democracy, neoliberalism, secularism, and conflict.
