CRL202 | Criminal Law II

This  course is a mandatory core subject which is in continuation of Criminal law I course, taught previous trimester.

Criminal law I and II both being substantive laws focuses on understanding  the concept of crimes, principles of criminal responsibility and legal provisions relating to crimes generally covered under Indian Penal Code. Criminal law II hence focuses on understanding offences covered under IPC including its judicial interpretations through important case laws and on understating provisions relating to crimes under Indian Substantive Criminal Law, that is Indian Penal Code. This course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of legal provisions of IPC along with the conceptual analysis of certain important terms used in it. The purpose would be to provide the primary information on relevant legal provisions and other relevant issues from the code and mainly to encourage the student to develop the skill of interpretation of penal provisions. Thus study of important Indian and English cases, wherever relevant will be taken up for class discussion.  The classification of offences made under the Code, such as offences against Human Body and Property will be covered.
