Call for Applications | Academic Associate – Economics

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) invites applications for Academic Associate – Economics (1 position) at NLSIU based out of the University campus on a contract basis for one term, (November to February 2025) with the possibility of extended engagement on a need basis. This position will be based in Bengaluru.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in the conduct of lectures tutorials, student consultations and supplementary teaching support;
- Assist in the conduct and evaluation of internal components of evaluation;
- Assist in the evaluation of examination papers.
Qualifications
Essential
- Masters Degree in Economics, with minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed).
- Communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills necessary to undertake pastoral care and administration for both undergraduate and graduate students and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds to enable them to reach their full potential.
Desirable
- Candidate with a PhD degree or enrolled as a PhD candidate would be preferred;
- Candidates who have published in high-quality academic journals will be preferred;
- Candidates with demonstrated academic excellence in their university education will be preferred;
- Candidates should demonstrate evidence of the skills needed for higher education teaching and a research record commensurate with the stage of their career;
- Candidates should demonstrate their commitment to the University’s goals and objectives.
Experience
Essential
- 0-3 years of work experience in an academic or professional setting;
- Strong, foundational understanding of the domain studied at the post-graduate level;
- Ability to work closely with students;
- Attention to detail;
- Capacity to team-teach the Course.
Desirable
- Prior experience in teaching, tutoring, and academic support in higher education setup preferred;
- Open to developing pedagogical methods to foster inclusive and innovative teaching.
