The course adds to the existing courses on ADR (clinical course being offered to 5 years integrated and 3 years LL.B. programme and Mediation (elective course being offered to 5 years integrated and 3 years LL.B., and LL.M. programme). It is a standalone skill-based course designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of community mediation, restorative justice and restorative practices.
It is a skill-based course where the participants will learn by doing. The course aims to educate the participants about the use of mediation in various and diverse categories of dispute in the areas like community, family, crimes, etc., and train them in drafting gender-sensitive and inclusive mediation settlement agreements.
The course blends theory with practical tools, offering participants the skills to foster healing and accountability in various settings, including schools, families, and communities. Through a series of interactive modules, participants will explore the distinctions between restorative justice and adversarial justice systems, delve into harms and needs, and develop key skills like active listening and non-violent communication. Practical components include role-plays on restorative conferences and circles, facilitating discussions, and applying restorative justice principles to real-world scenarios.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the tools to implement restorative approaches, address conflict, and contribute to community building in a meaningful way.
