This course offers a basic overview of state intervention in markets and society. At the end of this course, participants will be able to understand the economic rationale behind government interventions, the objectives the interventions aim to achieve, and critically assess the efficiency of various interventions. We will be concentrating on six processes that governments concern themselves with: bargaining, elections and voting, entrenchment, delegation, adjudication, and enforcement. Why these six processes? Because these are the processes governments use to create and implement public laws that affect market and society
