While the founders are often hailed as the superstars of the Indian start-up scene, their legal rights are usually completely ignored. In fact, in most cases, they are at such a weak starting point that they struggle to ever upgrade their rights.

This course provides a practical, hands-on approach to the legal documents that define the rights and obligations of founders and promoters in India. Focusing on the critical stages of a startup’s life cycle, from incorporation to venture capital financing, the curriculum emphasizes drafting, negotiating, and finalizing key transaction documents. Students will learn to analyze legal clauses from the perspective of a founder seeking to protect control, equity, and strategic vision in the face of financial investment and evolving founder relationships.
