Meet Our New Director of Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) | Vikas Chaturvedi

May 12, 2025

We extend a warm welcome to Mr. Vikas Chaturvedi as Director, Professional and Continuing Education Department (PACE) at NLSIU. Vikas has nearly three decades of experience across higher education, management consulting and line roles in consumer products. In his previous role at IIM Ahmedabad, Vikas was the COO for their Executive Education programmes and the Director for the Dubai centre. Vikas has also worked at Gallup, where he worked with leadership teams across 120 firms worldwide.

In this interview, he shares more about his journey so far and his work at NLSIU.

Can you tell us a little more about your background and your journey so far?

I studied History at St. Stephen’s College in Delhi, and then went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Behavioural Science from the London School of Economics & Political Science, and an MBA from Pittsburg State University, USA. I held roles in strategy and then moved to consulting in my 30s. That led to working with many clients and the opportunity to travel all over the world to nearly 50 countries. I also led large teams and the work involved a great deal of contextual (client) and cultural understanding. As part of my work in the field of higher education, I was exposed to a large range of new stakeholders including faculty and students. In a few words, my professional journey has been quite varied and therefore rich, which has helped me understand and engage with different environments, people, and situations.

Talk to us about your areas of professional expertise and personal interests?

My professional expertise would be in achieving institutional or organisational building goals through teams and multiple stakeholders. This can involve many things – team building and management, process excellence, negotiations and so on. I enjoy working with people, understandng the ground challenges and finding do-able solutions to problems.

My personal interests are reading (everything and anything), driving long distances (10 hours or more preferably) and watching Chelsea FC win or lose every week of the season. I also enjoy playing bad tennis.

Tell us more about your role at NLSIU.

My role at NLSIU is to lead the PACE team to deliver on a multitude of institutional goals and develop an even larger portfolio of successful programme offerings that benefit the on-campus or off-campus students alike. This would involve an all-hands effort from many NLSIU stakeholders over time with whom I will be working on a day-to-day basis. I feel this role is critical to making NLSIU learning even more relevant to the practitioners and the industry.

What leadership qualities are you an advocate of, and the role it can play at a workspace?

The qualities I value the most are humility, kindness, and fairness. A good mix of these goes a long way to engage the team foremost, followed by creating a conducive environment for everyone to work collaboratively.
