Rajagopal was previously associated with Azim Premji University (APU), where he served from 2013 and managed multiple operations and administration portfolios, including academic administration, student affairs, admissions operations, and outreach. He led admissions outreach for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across APU’s Bengaluru and Bhopal campuses.

He trained as an electrical engineer at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, and brings over 25 years of professional experience across multiple sectors. He began his career as a planning engineer, working on electro-mechanical projects in India, before transitioning to the information technology sector with organisations such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Accenture. He also worked in the United States and the United Kingdom prior to returning to India in 2013.

Rajagopal is interested in enabling careers in the social sector and particularly in improving the quality of education in public schools. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Child Rights Law from NLSIU, Bengaluru.
