Sunita is a counselor and a humanistic psychotherapist with a strong administrative background. She brings more than 18 years of work experience, having worked exclusively in the field of education. She previously worked with Yenepoya University, Mangalore, where she was working as Student Welfare Officer for nearly six years.
Sunita believes in the holistic development of young adults and her constant endeavour has been to create a space that will produce well-rounded and well-adjusted young adults. At NLSIU, she looks forward to implementing the vision and mission of the University and doing work that is meaningful and relevant to students and other stakeholders. In her role as Student Welfare Officer, Sunita works with the student body and the Residential Life team.

Tanvi began her career as a news producer and worked in broadcast and digital journalism for five years before transitioning into a communications role.
She has experience in business, finance and legal news production, and has previously worked at CNBC-TV18 in Mumbai and Reuters in Bengaluru.
Tanvi graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology and Economics from Christ University, Bengaluru, following which she received a Post Graduate Diploma in Print and Convergence Media from National School of Journalism, Bengaluru.
Tulasi began her career at NLSIU in March 2005, and started working at our library. Currently, she works under the office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO). Over the years, she has worked across several departments at the university including the Registrar’s Office, department of PACE (formerly Distance Education Department), Documentation Centre, People & Culture Office, and the Front Desk (Reception). Tulasi has a Bachelor’s degree in Arts.
Umesh P joined NLSIU in 1998 and has since then worked across various departments of the University including the Vice Chancellor’s Office, the Finance Department, PACE (formerly Distance Education Department). He has been working in the Academic Administration Department (AAD) since 2009.
He holds a B.A. & L.L.B. from Bangalore University.
Usha graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Bengaluru University and has over 20 years of work experience including 14 years in University administration. Following her graduation, she worked with NETWORK, an electronic typewriters manufacturing company, for six years.
She joined NLSIU during April 2008 where she was posted at the Distance Education Department (now PACE). She later worked with the Finance department for a brief period following which she worked at the Vice Chancellor’s office for eight years. Since July 2021, she is leading a team of three in the Academic Administration Department.
Vaibhavi Bhat is a recent graduate from the Department of Communication Studies, Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru, holding a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Communication Studies. With experience across nonprofit, academic, and media contexts, her work spans from visual design and writing to multimedia content creation.
Drawn to Practice-as-Research, Vaibhavi’s research interests sit at the intersection of participatory arts-based practices, nature, and photography. Her other interests lie in archiving, mixed media art, film, and new media.
As a Communications Assistant at NLISU, she hopes to contribute meaningfully while developing her practice within a space that values rigorous inquiry at the intersection of law, public policy and socio-legal research.
Vandana is a writer, editor, and a scholar of gender studies. She has experience in both digital and print publications. As a full-time editor, she has previously operated an independent online magazine and contributed to over 10 non-fiction books for children in the past two years.
She is passionate about exploring the social construction of fatness and gender through sustained research, excavating history, and delving into its intersections to undo structural stigma.
Vandana holds a BA (Hons) in History from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi and an MA in Gender Studies from the University of Hyderabad.
Vandana has five years of work experience in the HR domain, specifically in the areas of Compensation and Benefits and HR operations. She has previously worked as a Process Specialist at Infosys BPM Limited and as an HR Service Delivery Associate with Accenture Limited. At NLSIU, she manages processes across the recruitment life cycle across teaching, non-teaching, and research roles.
She holds a Post-Graduate Degree in Human Resource Management from Vidhya Vardhaka College of Engineering. She completed her B. Com Degree from Basudev Somani College, Mysore.
Outside of work, Vandana enjoys semi-classical dance forms and loves travelling.
Veena Rajes is an advocate with over 12 years of experience in dispute resolution and corporate laws, having served both as a litigation counsel and corporate counsel at reputed law firms. Her areas of expertise include civil, commercial and criminal disputes, arbitration, contract negotiation, and compliance.
She has also served as a Central Government Counsel for the Union of India at the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, Lucknow Bench, and as a Panel Advocate for the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department. Her professional journey includes significant tenures at I.B Singh Associates (Lucknow), J Sagar Associates (Bengaluru), and Ingram Yuzek Gainen Carroll & Bertolotti LLP (New York).
She holds a BA LLB (Hons) from Amity University, Noida and an LLM from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, Philadelphia.
Veena is passionate about providing strategic legal solutions across sectors, mentoring young lawyers, and offering pro bono legal aid. She is fluent in English, Tamil, and Hindi.
Vidya has a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Bangalore University and a Master’s Degree in Commerce from Kuvempu University. She holds a Diploma in Modern Office Practice. Prior to joining the University, she worked in the skills and talent development corporation NIIT, Davangere as a Front Office Counsellor.
She joined the University in 2000. During her 22-year journey at NLS, she has worked in the Examination department (now AAD), Distance Education Department (now PACE), the Finance Department, and the Registrar’s Office. Since 2020, she has been managing the Vice-Chancellor’s office at NLSIU.
