Background

This is a core course for students of MPP (1st year) to provide an exposure to policy analysis of well-established problems. Students will learn and understand tools and techniques of policy analysis to propose solutions to policy problems. Students will also learn how to write a policy memo and policy brief, which would later be helpful for their dissertation. Students are encouraged to explore the innovative solutions keeping in mind the needs of the client for whom the policy advice is provided. It will motivate the students to explore the logical, linear, and complex modes of finding solutions to existing policy problems.

Pedagogy

The course readings comprise chapters from books, and academic articles for the sessions. The sessions would be seminar style, where the instructor would take a lecture interspersed with discussions/ numerical solving exercises. Students are expected to actively participate in class by putting forth questions to utilise the sessions.

Apart from the listed readings, the instructors will share the latest developments relevant to the sessions for discussion in class.
