The HAL Chair was set up in 2012 under an MoU that was signed between the National Law School of India University and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bengaluru. The key objectives of this Chair include the following:
- To constantly engage in research, pertaining to all such legally relevant areas of Business laws with focus upon issues relevant to Defence Public Sector Undertakings
- To devise strategies to stregthen overall contract management process in HAL through research and suggestions
- To suggest policy reforms in bettering the performance of Deence Sector Undertakings
- To facilitate development of a common platform of defence public sector community in India
- To build a knowledge database in the area of law relating to defence public sector undertakings
- To facilitate development of training prorammes and training modules in the area of contract management, dispute resolution, business negotiations, and such other related areas
- To conceptualize and faciltitate an international conference of defence related industries, among others.
