Development and Law (3 Credits): This course is aimed at introducing participants to the challenge of understanding the objectives of ‘trans formative constitutionalism’ with its focus on Justice: social, economic
and political, to all its citizens and the relationship of this goal with the idea of development. Apart from an overview of India’s development experiences in the pre-liberalisation period, recent challenges of climate change, sustainable
food production, exploitation of natural resources are taken up to debate the appropriate policy response to such challenges.
