PEI913 | Political Economy of India

The course provides a critical understanding on the policy context in India, namely the configuration of
society, polity and economy. Apart from an overview to institutions of policy making, the nature of actors and basis of social formation of these actors and their interests are dealt. The incentive structures for voters, bureaucrats and
legislators are dealt through the writings of classical and contemporary writers. Further, the course ignites the minds of participants towards the issues of marginalisation, social conflicts and equity.
