Profile

Akhila Vasan has a post-graduate degree in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Bombay and doctoral degree from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. She has been a Fellow, Health and Population Innovation Fellowship, Population Council, New Delhi.

For the past decade she has been working with the Karnataka Janaarogya Chaluvali (KJC), an autonomous People’s Health Movement in Karnataka. Her core areas of expertise include public health research, working with marginalized communities and capacity-building, in the areas of health rights, public health, reproductive and sexual health with specific focus on politics of health, gender and sexuality.
