Profile
He is a political geographer focusing on the relationship between caste and urban modernisation in colonial and postcolonial India. He is currently writing his PhD dissertation on the social history of sanitation in Delhi from the Department of Geography, Environment and Society at the University of Minnesota. Previously, he worked for a decade and a half as an engaged researcher and community organizer on a wide-range of issues related to city planning, urban poverty and informal economy in India. He has taught at Dartmouth College and University of Minnesota and has held visiting fellow positions at the Centre for the Study of Democracy, London and the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance, Jawaharlal Nehru University.
