Constitutional Law III is a core course and completes the Constitutional Law course that has been divided into three broad areas. The Constitutional Law course in NLSIU has three broad themes –
Constitutional Law I primarily focuses on the federal structure; Constitutional Law II is devoted to fundamental rights; and, Constitutional Law III covers the accountability framework within the constitutional scheme. The accountability framework is reflected in the system of checks and balances viz separation of powers, judicial review and legislative framework embedded within the Constitution. Accordingly, the course includes discussion on their jurisprudential basis, purpose, the
constitutional design and inter-relationship.

Classroom interactions with the students would be a combination of lectures and socratic discussions. The reading material for the course covers primary and secondary readings. The bare text of the Constitution must be brought to class everyday.
