“Political Theory and Ecology” is a course on how to approach the ecological question in relation to politics and political theory. This course is based on the readings of political theory and issues like – nature-society relationship, gender and environment, ethics and ecology, the global climate change viz-a-viz contemporary politics, citizenship and environment and democracy and climate change and political ecology. The course is designed keeping in mind contemporary debates in political theory.

This course approaches the question of climate change, ecological crisis from the frameworks of political theory: feminism, Marxism, critical theory, contemporary liberal political thought and democratic theory. This course focuses on the dominant frameworks of political theory. The suggested reading list consists of theoretical texts on political theory by various authors with specialization on the specific areas. The reading materials are primarily secondary texts consisting of chapters from books and papers from various international journals.
