Profile

Akshay is a dedicated researcher specializing in Development Economics, Public Finance, and Agricultural and Rural Development. He has garnered extensive experience through his tenure at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. His research focuses on the critical analysis of State Public Finances, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and addressing agrarian and rural crises in India. Additionally, his academic pursuits delve into socio-economic reform in colonial society, particularly examining the non-Brahmin movement in India and the issue of Farmer suicides in Maharashtra and across India.

Akshay has showcased his research at various national and international conferences including ICRISAT, G20 side event conference, Agrarian South Network, IFPRI, ICSSR Institutes, MANAGE, VAMNICOM, Agricultural Universities and Indian Society of Agricultural Economics and Marketing. His diverse research background encompasses collaborations with esteemed organizations such as Pratham Education, Farmers’ Cooperatives, NGOs, and civil society organizations. Currently, he is deeply engaged in academic pursuits, further enriching his research experience. His ongoing doctoral research at the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) focus on Institutional Economics and Value chain, aiming to contribute insights into enhancing social and economic development in India.
